The Royal Kennel Club has named five finalists for the 2026 Hero Dog Award, recognizing dogs who have made extraordinary impacts on their owners and communities.
Finalists include Joey, a cocker spaniel aiding his owner’s recovery from grief and injury through agility training; Asha, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier providing emotional support to a teen with cerebral palsy; Tweed, a police dog who became Europe’s first digital detection dog, assisting in over 1,000 searches and major investigations; and two rescue dogs who overcame difficult pasts to become therapy and assistance dogs.
The public can vote online, with the winner to be announced on March 8, 2026, at Crufts in Birmingham, broadcast on Channel 4.
