North Carolina launches first SparkHub, letting high school students earn credit in tech fields through UNCG’s project-based program.
UNC Greensboro, SparkNC, and Guilford County Schools have launched North Carolina’s first SparkHub, a program offering high school students hands-on, project-based learning in computer science, digital arts, and esports.
Located on the UNCG campus, the initiative, backed by industry leaders like Apple, IBM, and Cisco, and funded in part by Live Oak Bank, allows students to earn high school credit by completing six self-paced modules and building a professional portfolio.
The program provides access to UNCG faculty, research resources, and mentorship, while supporting workforce development and economic mobility across the state.
