Liverpool plans to build 400+ homes on vacant sites, prioritizing affordable housing and community input.
Liverpool City Council is advancing plans to build over 400 homes across multiple neighborhoods, including Toxteth, Everton, and Edge Hill, by repurposing long-vacant council-owned sites and transferring 52 long-term void homes to a local housing provider.
The initiative, set for approval in February 2026, aims to deliver affordable and social housing, reduce blight, and improve community safety.
Selected homes will be refurbished with strict use restrictions, preventing student housing, HMOs, or short-term lets, while 15 will be leased back to the council for temporary accommodation.
Community input will shape development, and projects are expected to begin as early as 2026.
