Japan has pledged nearly $1 million to the ILO to support returning Cambodian migrant workers affected by border conflicts with Thailand.
The 24-month project, launched Feb. 18, 2026, in Phnom Penh, will provide job placement, skills training, legal aid, and counseling to help over 950,000 returnees reintegrate into Cambodia’s economy.
Implemented by Cambodia’s Ministry of Labour and the ILO, it includes new migrant worker resource centers and job fairs in high-return provinces.
As of January 16, over 640,000 returnees had found employment.
