A 37-year-old Florida man, Justin Allen, was arrested and charged with multiple felonies after smashing a white SUV with a hammer in a Publix parking lot in Ormond-by-the-Sea, believing it belonged to his ex-girlfriend.
Authorities confirmed the vehicle belonged to a Publix employee, not his ex.
Allen, who admitted to using cocaine found in his pocket, caused over $17,000 in damage.
He was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, possession of narcotics and paraphernalia, and possession of burglary tools.
After posting a $10,500 bond, he was released the same day.
