A fiery crash on Kentucky’s Bluegrass Parkway, caused by an illegal U-turn, closed the road overnight but it fully reopened by Feb. 17.
The Bluegrass Parkway in Hardin County, Kentucky, has fully reopened after a fiery crash involving two tractor-trailers near mile marker 7 on Monday, Feb. 16.
Kentucky State Police say the incident, which occurred around 9:30 p.m., was caused by a driver attempting an illegal U-turn using an emergency turnaround, leading to a collision with a second truck.
One tractor-trailer caught fire and was destroyed; the first driver sustained minor injuries and was hospitalized, while the second driver was unharmed.
Emergency crews worked through the night to clear the scene and clean up spilled diesel fuel.
The roadway was closed for several hours, with traffic diverted at Exit 10, but all lanes were reopened by 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 17.
The crash remains under investigation.
