A convicted criminal escaped custody for the second time in a week while hospitalized, sparking a manhunt and investigations.
A 21-year-old man, Daniel Boakye, who is serving a six-year, five-month sentence for knifepoint robberies and cryptocurrency theft, has escaped police custody for the second time in one week.
He fled from Lewisham Hospital on February 15, 2026, while under medical supervision, after previously escaping from West Middlesex University Hospital on February 10.
Described as a black male, medium height, slim build, last seen in grey tracksuit pants and a dark Nike jacket, Boakye is considered dangerous.
Police are searching for him, have detained four individuals on suspicion of assisting his escape, and are reviewing the incident with the Metropolitan Police’s Directorate of Professional Standards.
He is due to be deported to Ghana.
