Bayer offers $7.25B settlement for Roundup cancer lawsuits, pending court approval.
Bayer has proposed a $7.25 billion nationwide settlement to resolve thousands of U.S. lawsuits claiming its Roundup weedkiller, containing glyphosate, caused cancer, particularly non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
The plan, filed in Missouri, would establish a long-term claims program with capped annual payments over up to 21 years, covering roughly 65,000 pending and future claims.
The settlement, which does not admit liability, comes amid ongoing legal pressure, including a pending U.S. Supreme Court case over whether federal EPA approval preempts state lawsuits.
Bayer, which acquired Monsanto in 2018, says the deal offers a path to end years of litigation uncertainty and financial strain, though it still requires court approval.
