The Air Force unveiled a new red, white, and blue paint scheme for its Air Force One fleet, delaying the VC-25B delivery to 2028 and exceeding its $5 billion budget.
The U.S. Air Force has adopted a new red, white, dark blue, and gold paint scheme for its executive airlift fleet, including the upcoming VC-25B Air Force One, replacing the long-standing white and blue livery.
The change, which revives a previously scrapped design from the Trump era, applies to the VC-25B jets, four modified Boeing 757-200s, and a used Qatar Airways 747-8 now being upgraded for interim use as Air Force One.
The repainting occurs during routine maintenance, with one 757 already repainted and set for delivery.
The VC-25B delivery is now delayed to 2028, and the original $3.9 billion contract has exceeded $5 billion.
The Air Force did not explain how thermal issues from darker colors were resolved.
