A Vermont man was charged in connection with a credit card theft and fraud following a break-in in Shaftsbury.
A 22-year-old North Adams man, Elijah Foucher, has been charged in Vermont with grand larceny, identity theft, illegal possession of a credit card, and false pretenses after a vehicle break-in on Sycamore Lane in Shaftsbury on October 14, 2025.
Authorities discovered that a credit card belonging to Gail Hostetter, 40, was stolen and used for unauthorized purchases.
After a months-long investigation using surveillance footage, eyewitnesses, and digital forensics, Foucher was linked to the crimes, taken into custody, and released with a court date set for April 13, 2026.
If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison and fines totaling up to $5,000 for the charges.
