Prime Healthcare acquires Central Maine Healthcare, committing $150M to maintain services and restore trauma care.
Prime Healthcare Foundation, a California nonprofit, has acquired Central Maine Healthcare, including three hospitals and multiple health services, in a deal structured as a member substitution agreement.
The acquisition, which does not involve a public purchase price, makes Prime the sole parent organization and commits $150 million in investments over five years.
All facilities will retain their names, local leadership, and most employees, with Prime pledging to maintain essential services, reinstate trauma care at Central Maine Medical Center, and support long-term care and medical education.
The state approved the deal with conditions to ensure continuity of care.
