PGE to buy PacifiCorp’s WA assets for $1.9B, expanding service without rate hikes.
Portland General Electric has agreed to buy PacifiCorp’s Washington state utility assets for $1.9 billion, including wind and gas power plants, 4,500 miles of transmission lines, and operations serving about 140,000 customers.
The deal, expected to close within a year, will expand PGE’s service area into eastern and central Washington, with a newly formed subsidiary managed by PGE and backed by a minority stake from Manulife Infrastructure Fund III.
The acquisition is expected to be earnings-accretive in the first full year and will not lead to rate increases.
Regulatory approvals are pending, and PGE reaffirmed its 2026 adjusted earnings guidance of $3.33 to $3.53 per share.
