Odisha’s Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati unveiled a sweeping Vision 2036 and 2047 plan during the state’s 2026 budget session, aiming to boost per capita income to ₹32 lakh by 2047, expand the economy to $1.5 trillion, and raise India’s GDP share from 3% to 5%.
Key goals include 7%–9.5% annual growth, 343 large industrial projects, 10 GW renewable energy by 2030, and eliminating malnutrition and anaemia.
Initiatives focus on job creation, women’s empowerment through 25 lakh Lakhpati Didis, agricultural reforms, and infrastructure like the Rameswaram–Paradip Coastal Highway and a semiconductor hub.
The session began with “Vande Mataram” sung first, followed by a walkout by opposition parties citing lack of policy depth.
The session continues through April 8, with budget proposals expected to align with these goals.
