Nicholas Mimms was convicted in 2026 of felony murder and other charges in the 2021 shooting death of Eduardo Figueroa during a supervised visit with their child.
Nicholas Michael Mimms, 37, of Powder Springs, was convicted on February 13, 2026, of felony murder, aggravated assault, and firearm possession during a felony in the August 7, 2021, shooting death of Eduardo Gilberto Figueroa, 31, outside an Acworth home.
The killing occurred during Figueroa’s first supervised visit with their shared child, whom he had recently gained legal rights to.
Mimms, who was armed and wearing a bulletproof vest, claimed self-defense, but evidence showed Figueroa was unarmed.
The three-week trial included 25 witnesses and 200 exhibits.
Mimms was acquitted of malice murder.
Sentencing is pending.
