Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation for north India’s first semiconductor plant in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, on February 21, 2026, and inaugurate the 82-km Namo Bharat rapid rail corridor and 23-km Meerut Metro on February 22.
The rail and metro projects will cut travel time between Delhi and Meerut to about 45 minutes.
Uttar Pradesh has expanded its infrastructure with 22 expressways, a growing metro network, upgraded inland waterways, 16 airports including the new international airport at Jewar, and a new Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) hub, positioning the state as a major logistics and connectivity center.
