Italy's trade surplus rose to €6.04 billion in December 2025, its highest in five months, up from €5.15 billion a year earlier, as exports grew 4.9% annually, outpacing a 3.4% rise in imports.
Export gains were seen in both EU and non-EU markets, with shipments to non-EU countries rising 5.1%.
The surplus with non-EU nations expanded to €8.4 billion, while the deficit with EU partners widened to €2.45 billion.
For 2025, the annual trade surplus reached €50.75 billion, up from €48.3 billion in 2024, driven by stronger exports of pharmaceuticals and metals.
