The Indian Union Muslim League will contest five seats in Tamil Nadu’s 2026 assembly elections as part of its alliance with the DMK, with IUML leader Kader Mohideen urging the DMK to allocate 16 seats to Muslim candidates for better representation.
The demand follows a party meeting in Chennai supporting the DMK-led alliance and the continuation of the Dravidian Model.
Mohideen praised Chief Minister M. K. Stalin’s government, while the opposition AIADMK criticized the interim budget, calling the Dravidian Model deceptive and ineffective.
Elections are expected in the first half of 2026, with the DMK having won 133 seats in 2021 and the AIADMK securing 66.
