India launches its first homegrown AI smart glasses, developed under its national AI strategy.
Indian startup Sarvam AI unveiled Sarvam Kaze, the country’s first indigenous AI-powered smart glasses, at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi testing the device.
Designed and built in India, the glasses use local AI models to enable voice and gesture-controlled listening, understanding, responding, and visual capture, with a focus on Indian languages and offline functionality.
Set for a May 2026 launch, the device is part of India’s national AI strategy under the IndiaAI mission, which has invested ₹10,372 crore since 2024 to build domestic AI infrastructure, support startups, and develop Indian-language models.
The launch marks a key milestone in India’s push for self-reliance in advanced technology.
