India and France began assembling the Airbus H125 helicopter in Karnataka, advancing defense cooperation and India’s manufacturing goals.
India and France launched the final assembly of the Airbus H125 helicopter at a new facility in Vemagal, Karnataka, on February 17, 2026, marking a major step in their defense and aerospace partnership.
The joint venture between Tata Advanced Systems and Airbus will produce the H125, a single-engine helicopter capable of operating at extreme altitudes, including Mount Everest, for military and civil use.
The project supports India’s “Make in India” and Atmanirbhar Bharat goals, with the first Indian-assembled H125 expected by early 2027 and exports planned for South Asia.
The facility, the country’s first private-sector rotorcraft assembly line, will create jobs, boost indigenous manufacturing, and strengthen strategic ties between the two nations.
