A $75,000 grant will fund a weeklong reconciliation event in Ontario for 50 Canadian youth, blending Indigenous and non-Indigenous leaders in cultural learning and healing.
The Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise has received a $75,000 Rotary Global Grant to host the fourth annual Youth to Youth Truth and Reconciliation Experience from March 22 to 29 at Chiefswood Park in Ohsweken.
The event will bring together 25 Indigenous and 25 non-Indigenous youth leaders from across Canada for cultural teachings, reconciliation circles, and hands-on activities.
Phyllis Webstad will speak on residential school history, while participants will learn about peace treaties through wampum belt teachings, create traditional crafts, and engage with Haudenosaunee Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
Indigenous chefs will provide meals, and the initiative, led by Jim and Marjorie Dawson, aims to advance reconciliation through youth collaboration and community healing.
