Fourteen-year-old Vivaan Agarwal from Jaipur, India, won the 2025 Junior Queen's Commonwealth Essay Competition, selected from 53,434 entries across 54 nations.
His essay, praised for emotional depth and originality, called for dialogue and empathy between India and Pakistan, highlighting shared cultural experiences as a bridge over longstanding divisions.
In November, he traveled to London for Winners’ Week, attending a ceremony at St James’s Palace hosted by the Queen, meeting Queen Camilla, and participating in workshops with literary figures including Imtiaz Dharker and Sir Ben Okri.
His essay was read aloud by chef Monica Galetti, and he engaged with media leaders and celebrated youth creativity at a West End performance of Matilda the Musical.
