A fire broke out in the last coach of the New Delhi-Chennai Grant Trunk Express (12616) on Tuesday morning in Maharashtra’s Wardha district, near Sindi station, around 11:09 a.m. The train, en route from Nagpur, was halted on the Sindi-Tuljapur section after smoke was detected in the guard’s coach. The affected coach was detached, and the fire was brought under control by the fire brigade. All passengers, including those in the impacted coach, were safely evacuated and transferred to other coaches. No injuries or casualties were reported. The cause of the fire, which originated in a luggage compartment near the guard’s cabin, remains under investigation. The train resumed service later in the day without the damaged coach.
