A fire at a Dhaka building started in a timber shop, spread through multiple floors, and was extinguished after two hours with army aid, leaving no deaths but damaging nearby businesses.
A fire broke out late Monday night at a five-storey building in Karwan Bazar’s Kathpatti area, Dhaka, around 10:28 p.m., originating in a timber shop near TCB Bhaban and spreading to the third, fourth, and part of the fifth floors.
The blaze, fueled by flammable materials including wood, paper, stationery, and diapers stored in a Huggies warehouse, was brought under control by 12:38 a.m. on February 16 after two hours of firefighting involving up to ten fire units and army support.
No casualties were reported, but nearby businesses were affected.
The exact cause remains under investigation.
