Ethan Rowley, 20, sentenced to nine months for throwing boiling water in a prison shower, causing severe burns.
Ethan Rowley, 20, was sentenced to an additional nine months in prison for a November 2024 shower attack at HMP Nottingham in which he threw boiling water from a blue mop bucket over another inmate, causing severe burns to the victim’s genitals, legs, chest, and arms.
The attack occurred while Rowley was on remand for a 21-year sentence for raping two women in Derbyshire and had prior violent convictions.
He pleaded guilty to intentionally using a destructive substance to cause grievous bodily harm.
The victim, who did not provide a victim statement, was treated at Queen’s Medical Centre.
Judge Michael Auty KC called the sentence exceptional for Rowley’s age, highlighting the deliberate and cruel nature of the assault.
