Delhi High Court blocks Ilaiyaraaja from claiming ownership of hundreds of film songs, citing Saregama’s copyright rights.
The Delhi High Court has granted an ex-parte injunction blocking music composer Ilaiyaraaja from using, licensing, or claiming ownership over hundreds of film songs from 130+ movies, citing Saregama India Limited’s exclusive copyright rights.
The order, issued February 13, 2026, stems from a lawsuit alleging Ilaiyaraaja violated assignment agreements with film producers from 1976 to 2001 by uploading songs to platforms like Amazon Music and JioSaavn while asserting ownership.
The court found Saregama established a prima facie case, with the balance of convenience and risk of irreparable harm favoring the plaintiff.
Ilaiyaraaja must file a written statement within 30 days, with further proceedings set for April 2, 2026, and April 24, 2026.
El Tribunal Superior de Delhi impide a Ilaiyaraaja reclamar la propiedad de cientos de canciones de películas, citando los derechos de autor de Saregama.
