Delhi court charges Lalu Prasad Yadav and wife in 2004–2009 land-for-jobs scam; trial starts March 9.
A Delhi court has formally charged former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi with corruption and criminal conspiracy in a land-for-jobs scam, alleging they traded Railway Group D jobs for land between 2004 and 2009.
The case, probed by the CBI, stems from claims that jobs were awarded in exchange for land, with the court finding prima facie evidence of a coordinated scheme involving family members.
Charges were framed against 41 individuals, while 52 others were discharged and five accused died.
The court allowed video appearances due to age and health concerns.
The trial, set to begin March 9, follows multiple charge sheets and a parallel money-laundering probe by the Enforcement Directorate.
