A Delhi-based group denied authorizing a forged letter accusing a senior advocate of bribing a judge, calling it a malicious attack on their reputation.
The All India Lawyers Association for Justice (AILAJ) denied authorizing a letter alleging a senior advocate offered ₹50 lakh to bribe a Madras High Court judge, calling it a forgery.
The association stated it was unaware of the document, had no secretary position, and its official address is in Vandalur, not Thambu Chetty Street in Chennai.
AILAJ said the letter, which prompted Judge M. Nirmal Kumar to recuse himself and trigger a vigilance inquiry, was falsely attributed to them and constitutes a malicious attempt to damage their reputation.
The group plans to file a police complaint and has urged the court to take action against those responsible.
