Civil rights groups urge a judge to limit the FBI’s use of voter data seized in a Georgia raid, citing privacy and voting rights violations.
Civil rights groups, including the NAACP, have asked a federal judge to restrict the FBI’s use of voter data seized during a January 2026 raid on Fulton County’s elections office in Georgia.
The groups argue the search, which collected ballots, tabulator tapes, electronic images, and voter records, violated constitutional privacy rights and undermined trust in elections.
They seek to limit the data’s use to the ongoing criminal investigation, prohibit its use for voter roll maintenance, election administration, or immigration enforcement, and demand a full inventory, access logs, and security details.
The raid was prompted by a referral from Kurt Olsen, a former Trump election advisor.
The Justice Department has not responded, and similar requests in other states have been rejected.
