Christine Bergeron, a Cornwall native and pioneering finance leader, died on February 13, 2026, at 52 after a brain cancer diagnosis.
She served as CEO of Vancity, Canada’s largest credit union, and later led Concert Properties, stepping back after her diagnosis.
A graduate of the University of Guelph and UBC’s Sauder School of Management, she earned acclaim including the Women in Finance Rising Star award and inclusion in Business in Vancouver’s Top 40 Under 40.
In her honor, Vancity and WeBC launched the Christine Bergeron Woman Entrepreneur Award to support women and nonbinary innovators in sustainability.
Her family requests donations to the award, with a celebration of life on March 1.
