CBI opposes Jaideep Sengar’s bail extension in 2018 custodial death case, citing fake cancer claims; court extends bail until Feb 20, 2026.
The Central Bureau of Investigation opposed Jaideep Sengar’s request for a three-month extension of his interim bail in the 2018 custodial death case of the Unnao rape survivor’s father, alleging his medical documents were fabricated.
The Delhi High Court extended his bail until February 20, 2026, and ordered the CBI to verify the authenticity of his claimed Stage IV oral cancer.
Sengar, sentenced to 10 years in 2020, has spent nearly four years in custody.
The case stems from the father’s death in police custody after being arrested under the Arms Act, allegedly due to pressure from his brother Kuldeep Sengar, who was convicted in 2019 for the rape.
Both brothers’ appeals remain pending.
