Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will visit West Bengal on February 18, 2026, attending the 152nd birth anniversary of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur at the ISKCON temple in Mayapur ahead of the state’s 2026 Assembly elections.
On February 17, he chaired a national 'Manthan' meeting in Gandhinagar, bringing together cooperation ministers to advance reforms in the cooperative sector, including establishing 200,000 new agricultural credit societies, expanding national grain storage, and creating new national institutions for exports, organic farming, and seed supply.
The discussions also covered modernizing cooperative laws, improving cooperative banks and sugar mills, promoting sustainable dairy, and strengthening digital infrastructure like the National Cooperative Database.
The efforts aim to boost rural economies and advance the government’s vision of 'Sahkar se Samriddhi'.
