Taapsee Pannu warns women-led, socially relevant films like her new movie Assi are at risk due to lack of audience support and industry bias toward mainstream content.
Taapsee Pannu warns that socially relevant, women-led films like her upcoming movie Assi—about a prosecutor fighting sexual violence—are at risk of disappearing from Hindi cinema due to declining audience support and industry focus on mainstream content.
Speaking to PTI, she stressed that both theaters and streaming platforms favor formulaic films, making it hard for meaningful stories to survive.
Pannu called waiting for OTT releases "suicidal" for such cinema and urged audiences to support these films in theaters to preserve diversity in storytelling.
Assi, her third collaboration with director Anubhav Sinha, is set for release on February 20.
Taapsee Pannu advierte que las películas socialmente relevantes dirigidas por mujeres, como su nueva película Assi, están en riesgo debido a la falta de apoyo de la audiencia y el sesgo de la industria hacia el contenido convencional.
