Slovakia's annual inflation rose to 4.0% in January 2026, the highest in four months and the fastest since September, driven by increases in housing, energy, and food prices, which rose 6.1%, 6.1%, and 3.9% year-on-year, respectively.
Prices for information and communications jumped 7.1%, while transport costs fell 1.8% due to lower fuel and air travel prices.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices surged 1.8% after a 0.3% drop in December.
Despite earlier easing trends, inflationary pressures persist, though the government expects inflation to ease to 3.8% by year-end, supported by energy subsidies.
