Rochester firefighters rescued a dog from a kitchen fire on Feb. 14; no people were hurt.
Rochester firefighters rescued a dog from a house fire on Saturday, February 14, around 5:30 p.m., at a home in the 500 block of 8th St NW.
The fire started in the kitchen, causing extensive damage and significant smoke throughout the residence.
No occupants were inside at the time, and no injuries were reported.
Fire crews extinguished the flames, searched all three floors, and recovered the dog.
The cause remains under investigation by the Rochester Fire Marshal’s Division.
Additional agencies, including the Mayo Clinic Ambulance, Rochester Police Department, Minnesota Energy, Rochester Public Utilities, and the American Red Cross, assisted with the response.
The fire department reiterated that kitchen fires are the leading cause of residential fires, often due to unattended cooking, and urged residents to take preventive measures.
