A new exhibition, "Oxfordshire’s Military Heritage in 50 Objects," opens March 21 at the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock and runs through April 30.
It showcases nearly 2,000 years of military history using artifacts from the museum’s 14,500-item collection, including a 19th-century shako, a Waterloo Medal, and items from D-Day.
Highlights include a signed sketch and binoculars from a Normandy invasion soldier, the story of Lieutenant Osmond Bartle Wordsworth, whose remains were identified in 2013, and blackout curtains from a local home.
The exhibit, supported by the Greening Lambourne Trust, aims to inspire reflection on family military histories and offers outreach talks by booking.
