Nagaland’s CM urged faster talks on Naga peace, highlighting unity and progress amid ongoing negotiations.

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio urged the Indian government to accelerate talks on the long-standing Naga political settlement during the 2026 Lui-Ngai-Ni festival in Ukhrul, emphasizing "emotional integration" among Naga communities. He highlighted ongoing efforts to implement the 2015 Framework Agreement and 2017 Agreed Position, noting a 2024 resolution backed by 61 Naga organizations and 226 signatories calling for dialogue. Rio announced a state-level committee of MLAs and MPs pushing for progress, including a February 5 meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He stressed unity across Naga-inhabited areas, praised political cohesion, and marked the event as a step toward lasting peace, with Manipur’s Deputy CM Losii Dikho affirming progress in stability and collaboration.
