Lyra Energy, a South African renewable platform backed by Scatec, Standard Bank, and Stanlib, has secured power purchase agreements with three major companies for a significant share of its 255 MW Thakadu solar plant.
The project, set for two-phase development with construction on the first phase starting in Q1 2026, uses an aggregator model to provide businesses with flexible, low-risk access to large-scale solar power.
Scatec will manage engineering, construction, and long-term operations.
The agreements mark a key step in expanding private sector access to clean energy and supporting South Africa’s energy transition.
