Luzerne County’s Code Review Committee will meet Thursday to discuss a proposed new Infrastructure, Community, and Economic Development Division, the first since the 2012 home rule charter, aimed at boosting development.
County officials seek to rename the division to avoid confusion with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The council unanimously approved updating purchasing thresholds to $13,200 for price quotes and $24,500 for bidding, aligning with Pennsylvania’s CPI adjustments, though some residents worry about reduced transparency.
The county is also urging dog owners to license pets, with annual fees at $10.80 and lifetime options at $52.80, to help reunite lost animals and avoid fines up to $500.
