Irish rugby investigates racist abuse of debutant player Edwin Edogbo after Six Nations win over Italy.
The Irish Rugby Football Union is investigating racist abuse directed at Edwin Edogbo, a 23-year-old Munster player and Ireland debutant, following his appearance in Ireland’s 20-13 Six Nations win over Italy.
The abuse, posted on the IRFU’s social media, prompted the organization to disable comments and work with anti-racism group Signify and authorities.
The IRFU condemned the attacks as “cowardly” and reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy.
Edogbo, born in County Cork to Nigerian parents, expressed gratitude for support and acknowledged the challenges of adapting to international rugby.
Ireland’s next match is against England at Twickenham.
