Indian leaders celebrated Mahashivratri nationwide with prayers, processions, and rituals honoring Lord Shiva’s sacrifice and divine union with Parvati.

On Mahashivratri, Indian leaders celebrated across the country, with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla highlighting Lord Shiva’s sacrifice in consuming poison as a symbol of service and dedication. Union Home Minister Nityanand Rai joined the 35-year-old Shiv Baarat procession in Hajipur as charioteer, while Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath performed rituals at Barohiya Shiv Temple and Triveni Sangam. Other top leaders, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and state chief ministers, offered prayers at various Shiva temples. The festival, marking Shiva and Parvati’s divine union, is observed nationwide with fasting, vigils, and processions, reflecting deep spiritual devotion.
