India wins global lowest green hydrogen bid at ₹279/kg for 10,000 tons/year supply to Assam refinery.
India has secured a record-low bid of ₹279 per kilogram for green hydrogen in a national tender, the lowest globally, for supplying 10,000 tons annually to Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. in Assam.
The win, from one of nine bidders, reflects India’s growing competitiveness in clean energy, driven by low renewable costs and government support including transmission charge waivers.
The country aims to use 200,000 tons of green hydrogen yearly in refineries and begin exporting green ammonia by 2028, with talks underway with buyers in Europe and Japan.
