India launches UPI One World pilot, letting foreign visitors pay via QR codes using global cards without local accounts.
The National Payments Corporation of India has launched a pilot for its 'UPI One World' wallet at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, allowing foreign delegates from over 40 countries to make real-time payments using international debit or credit cards without an Indian bank account or mobile number.
Available at New Delhi International Airport and the NPCI Pavilion, the service, accessible via the CheqUPI app, lets users load up to ₹25,000 per transaction and ₹50,000 monthly, with unused balances refunded to original cards.
Payments are made via UPI QR codes, supporting cashless travel and showcasing India’s digital infrastructure.
