India hosts first UN small arms training for Asia-Pacific nations, boosting regional arms control efforts.
India is hosting the first UN training program on small arms and light weapons control for the Asia-Pacific region in Jabalpur from February 16 to March 6, 2026.
Organized by the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs, the three-week event brings together officials from 13 nations to strengthen implementation of global arms control frameworks, including the UN Programme of Action and the International Tracing Instrument.
Supported by India’s Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Defence, the program focuses on improving arms tracing, stockpile management, and multilateral cooperation to combat illicit arms flows, terrorism, and organized crime.
The initiative highlights India’s growing role in global disarmament and its recognized expertise in responsible arms governance.
