On February 16, 2026, MDMK MP Durai Vaiko met DMK’s Kanimozhi Karunanidhi to submit six proposals for the DMK’s 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election manifesto.
The proposals, focused on Tiruchirappalli, include designating the city as Tamil Nadu’s second capital, launching a metro rail project, creating a “University City,” establishing a separate TNSTC transport division, developing the Trichy-Manapparai SIPCOT into a global electronics hub, and providing New Delhi hostels and free laptops for underprivileged students.
