BYU guard Richie Saunders tears ACL early in game, ending his season and career.
BYU guard Richie Saunders, 24, will miss the rest of the 2025-26 season after tearing his ACL in the first minute of a 90-86 overtime win over Colorado. The injury ended his four-year collegiate career, cutting short a standout season in which he averaged 18.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, and led the team in 3-pointers and steals. A second-round NBA Draft prospect, Saunders finished his career with 1,544 points and ranks among BYU’s all-time leaders in multiple categories. Coach Kevin Young called him the heart and soul of the team, and his absence is a major blow to BYU’s NCAA Tournament hopes. The Cougars, now 19-6, face Arizona in Tucson on Wednesday.
