A plan to turn a closed Stourbridge church into a 40-child day nursery seeks council approval.
A proposal has been submitted to Dudley Council to convert the vacant former LDS church on Bagleys Road in Stourbridge into a day nursery.
The 4,261 sq ft building, closed since June 2022, would accommodate 40 children and 10 staff, operating weekdays from 9 a.m. to late afternoon, with weekend and holiday community use.
The application requests a change of use from religious (F1) to childcare (E), including interior updates and use of existing grounds as a play area.
Council documents cite high local demand for early years childcare and no interest in reverting the building to religious use.
The plan aims to address staffing shortages, support families, and preserve the site as a community asset.
The proposal will be reviewed by planners in the Lye and Stourbridge North ward.
