A month-long festival honoring Emperor Samrat Vikramaditya, called Vikramotsav, began on February 15 in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, coinciding with Shivratri.
Organized by the state government under Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, it features religious, cultural, and trade events including the Kalash Yatra, theater performances, an international history conclave, a mythological film festival, and a poetry conference.
The festival concludes on March 19 with the Samrat Vikramaditya Award, release of the Vikram Panchang 2082–83, and a dance-drama on the Shipra River.
