Malaysian police arrested 36 people, including migrants and suspected smugglers, in a coordinated operation across Perak targeting a transnational smuggling ring. The group, mostly Indonesian and Bangladeshi nationals, was preparing to be transported to Indonesia. Raids occurred in Selekoh, Bagan Datuk, and Kampung Sungai Payung, with suspects detained in a palm oil plantation and roadside. Two ringleaders were remanded under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act for 28 days, while migrants were held under the Immigration Act for 14 days. The case is being investigated under Malaysia’s Anti-Trafficking and Immigration laws.
