A Maine woman was indicted for manslaughter and DUI causing death after her SUV crossed into oncoming traffic, killing her passenger and injuring another driver in a 2025 crash.
A 26-year-old Hermon woman, Lacey Wiles, has been indicted on multiple charges, including manslaughter and operating under the influence causing death, following a head-on crash on Route 196 near Merrymeeting Bridge in Topsham on October 4, 2025.
Authorities say her Volvo SUV crossed the centerline, striking a GMC pickup truck, killing her 23-year-old passenger, Marcus Steinman, and seriously injuring the truck’s driver, Joseph Lemont.
Wiles, also seriously injured, was taken into custody and is held on $50,000 cash bail at the Penobscot County Jail.
