A Louisiana man was arrested for walking a live alligator on Bourbon Street, carrying a gun and drugs.
Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries agents arrested 25-year-old Eurell D. Johnson of New Roads on February 14, 2026, after he was seen walking a 3- to 4-foot live alligator down Bourbon Street in New Orleans’ French Quarter around 1:30 a.m. Johnson, a convicted felon, was also found with a firearm and marijuana.
Louisiana law bans possession of live alligators without special permits, and firearm possession is illegal for felons.
The alligator was turned over to an LDWF biologist, and the firearm and drugs were seized.
Johnson was booked into Orleans Parish Jail facing multiple charges, including felon in possession of a firearm, illegal alligator possession, and marijuana possession.
